About our Henderson Home Community

Henderson Home is more than a care facility; it is a community built on the belief that everyone deserves a place where they truly belong. Our mission in Canterbury is to provide specialised support for individuals with intellectual disabilities, focusing on quality care that makes a tangible difference to their daily lives.

Expert care with a personal touch

Our approach is centred on the person—supporting each resident to maximise their independence while being safe and fully included in the community.

A home, not a facility

We avoid clinical environments in favour of family-like settings where everyone belongs. We pride ourselves on being a "Home for Life," where transitions are handled with care and dignity.

Residential care

Our living environments

We offer safe, and inclusive spaces for our residents to support their needs.

Wingside residential (younger care)

Residential wing (Wingside)

Supported younger care (private rooms)

Community-based houses

Independent living in a residential atmosphere.

Beyond our main wings, we offer independent living options through our network of community-based homes. These properties are designed to foster autonomy while providing a secure base within the Christchurch community.

Our current homes include four addresses on Henderson Road: 177 (5 bedrooms) and 268 (5 bedrooms), along with smaller group settings at 309 (4 bedrooms) and 307 (3 bedrooms). Each home provides a comfortable, domestic environment tailored to support the specific needs and independence levels of its residents.
