Welcome to Henderson Home

Residential living for adults with intellectual disabilities.

Established in 1994 and remaining under the same dedicated ownership for over 31 years, Henderson Home continues to evolve to meet the ever-changing needs of our residents.

Our organisation was founded on the belief that everyone deserves a place where they feel safe, supported, and truly at home. We work closely with residents, families, whānau, and health professionals to ensure our services meet individual needs while promoting independence and wellbeing.

Homeside residential (older care)

Supported aging care (private rooms)

Consists of 14 single bedrooms personalised with possessions of the Residents’ choice. This environment is more suited to aging people, with many residents having lived here for 20–30 years.

Features spacious bathroom and toilet facilities for privacy. Awake staffed 24 hours every day.

Wingside residential (younger care)

Supported younger care (private rooms)

Consists of 11 single bedrooms. This environment houses our younger residents who require extra assistance day or night that may not be available in smaller houses. Awake staffed 24 hours every day.

Community-based houses

Independent living in a residential atmosphere.

Beyond our main wings, we offer independent living options through our network of community-based homes. These properties are designed to foster autonomy while providing a secure base within the Christchurch community.

Our current homes include four addresses on Henderson Road: 177 (5 bedrooms) and 268 (5 bedrooms), along with smaller group settings at 309 (4 bedrooms) and 307 (3 bedrooms). Each home provides a comfortable, domestic environment tailored to support the specific needs and independence levels of its residents.
